Songs of Innocence and of Experience, version 2

A musical setting of William Blake's set of poems by the same title, written for a sextet of amplified vocalists plus orchestra.

Instrumentation of the orchestra:
Woodwinds: flute 1/piccolo (1 player), flute 2, oboe/english horn (1 player), clarinet, bassoon
Brass: trumpet, horn 1, horn 2, trombone, bass trombone
Percussion: percussion 1 (floor tom, bongos, snare drum, suspended cymbal (shared with percussion 2)), percussion 2 (glockenspiel, vibraphone, chimes, marimba (4.5 oct. or larger), suspended cymbal (shared with percussion 1), tam-tam, bass drum, triangle, mark tree), timpani, piano
Strings: harp, standard string orchestra

As it's very unlikely that I will be able to have a full orchestra perform a work of this scale in the non-distant future, my notation of the instrumental parts is not optimized for performance (I only put links to the full scores for the benefit of any listeners who are curious about the finer details of the orchestration), but is instead optimized for helping me organize my thoughts as I'm orchestrating. To this end, I've made the instrumental parts more compact (by omitting dynamics and slurs), and easier to read (by writing them in concert pitch and not using alto clef for the violas). However, it's plausible that I might (in the non-distant future) try to arrange a performance of this involving only the vocal sextet accompanied by the pre-recorded orchestral parts. I have therefore included "vocal scores" (in addition to the full scores), which contain only the vocal parts and a reduction of the orchestral parts, as well as recordings of the orchestral parts by themselves.

Note that, since writing version 1, I have discovered that the source I originally used for Blake's poems had a few typos, so I have corrected those in this version (which is why some of the titles are slightly different from their counterparts in version 1). However, there are also places where I intentionally deviated slightly from Blake's original text (usually either to make it fit the rhythm of the music better, or to make it more comprehensible to modern English speakers), and these changes remain in this version.
